Friday in Cairo and Sakkara

Had a traditional Egyptian breakfast of beans, boiled eggs, toast and vegetables.  Our tour guide, Hannan was right on time for our personally guided tour.

This is the pyramid at Sakkara, it is the oldest that has been discovered; over 5000 years old.  Note: the Egyptians think they have only uncovered about 30% of their pyramids and tombs, the rest are locked in the desert sand.

A Bedouin beggar, you can't see that he is missing most of his upper front teeth.  This picture cost us 20 cents, (1 Egyptian pound), he wanted a 5 spot, told him no.

This is one of the "false entrances" under the pyramid, to throw robbers off., it is at least 60 feet deep.  Didn't work.  Just about 100% of all tombs have been robbed, the famous exception is King Tut's tomb.  Robberies took place within a few hundred years of the completion of the pyramid and tombs.

Some museum pieces.

Note: while I am writing this, there is another call to prayers (5PM) on the city loudspeakers.  We  hear this five times a day.

We saw this driving around during the day at the noon call to prayer.
